I often use laptop and iPad when study. Especially now, I write a lot of reports on the laptop because I take a chemistry experiment class. In university, professors demand students “think by yourself”. So, I use degital devaices in many time to share my opinion. Befor university education, I did often Drill and Practice by using notes and pencil because exam is handwritten.

I agree with your opinion. We suddenly start to use laptop and iPad for studying instead of notebooks and pens. In personal, I prefer to write report on my laptop rather than on paper.
I agree with your opinion. And my friend struggle with Physics report who is majoring in science. I also write experiment report in psychology class. It is hard for me because I sometimes have ICT troubles.
I prefer to write with my hand and pencil.
That’s interesting. When I was a science major back in 1999-2003, we would not have been allowed to write our initial lab notes on a computer. The idea was that you needed to write them down by hand so that the originals would be preserved. This avoids data falsification.
Of course, we wrote the proper lab reports using a computer after that.
I have to wonder if one part of the demand from the faculty side to “think for yourself” is actually something to save work for faculty. At the same time, it is what I hope for my students as well. Stated positively, we want you to be masters of your subject areas.
