I am very surprised by the current university’s education system that uses computers and AI.
Because most of the classes need to use laptops and submit the assignment within a site designated by the university (for example, LCU, Microsoft Glexa, g.comasin.com, etc…). When I was high school student, Almost all homework and examination was submitted on paper.
And also, AI, I am surprised. I thought that AI (for example chatGPT, DeepL and so on) were always prohibited in university. But Some teachers permit the use of AI to correct English sentence.
I agree with your opinion. In chemistry class, we consider the use of chat GPT. We should live with AI.
I agree with your opinion. Using AI is someetimes useful, but we will not able to use our brain properly, because AI can thnk about amost everything.
I think it’s hard to know how best to balance the use of so-called “AI.” Some parts of it are very useful, and these parts can be used in educationally useful or harmful ways. Other parts are less useful, but they can trick someone who does not know what they are doing.
I often use AI to check e-mails I have already written in Japanese. It is very good at finding grammar mistakes (or so I think), but it also both changes the writing style to something more formal than I want and sometimes changes the meaning. If I didn’t understand the changes and just used them by trusting it, it would alter my meaning and be useful.
A major reason for submitting things online is … easier grading. Also, students could still use AI for hand-written things and just write out what the AI shows them on the screen.
